This year marks Life Legal’s 35th anniversary of bringing boundless energy, profound commitment, and effective legal savvy to bear in defense of children in the womb and of others threatened by the Culture of Death. We’ve won some significant victories: We defeated the IRS before defeating the IRS was cool. In the face of virulent opposition from the pro-abortion Clinton administration, we maintained our tax-exempt status and established a precedent that would protect other pro-life non-profits…. We intervened to prevent the forced starvation of accident victim Robert Wendland – and set precedent that has saved many other lives…. We got charges dismissed against heroic sidewalk counselor Walter Hoye – and we got the Oakland ordinance used against him declared unconstitutional by the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. We’re still doing battle for the same principles right now. We’re confronting the abortion distortion that animates so many administrative and judicial decisions – and insisting on equal rights for pro-lifers…. We’re working every day to save patients from medical murder through starvation and dehydration…. And we’re defending pro-life prayer warriors, protesters, and sidewalk counselors time and time again from attempts to silence them – so that they can continue to save children from the relentless suction aspirators of the abortion industry. We know that our efforts save lives. Recently, an embattled sidewalk counselor credited our work for helping to save a 16-week-old baby girl. And that’s only one of the saves reported to us. Most of the problems we deal with never make any headlines. We live by the motto, “No case is too small,” and we’re there for the pro-life little guy when he needs us most. For 35 years, we’ve done more than speak truth to power. We’ve taken on destructive powers and made them back down. And we’ve done it despite an enormous financial disadvantage. Our opponents are rarely private citizens of limited means. Usually, they are government entities – which depend on the taxpayer to fund their work against us – or bloody-handed, filthy-rich child murder profiteers. Too often, we are playing David against both Goliaths at the same time. That’s why we make the best possible use of every penny our supporters give us. We can’t afford to waste resources. Our associated attorneys typically work pro bono – free of charge – but court costs and other expenses can still overwhelm us if we’re not vigilant. Please… can you help us continue our vital work on behalf of the Culture of Life? We’re asking those who can afford a regular commitment to pledge $35 per month. If such a pledge is not possible, we’re asking for a one-time gift of $35. Because we are almost always facing adversaries with vastly superior finances, we are especially seeking gifts of up to $350 or even $1035 from pro-life stalwarts who can afford such sacrificial generosity.
