Dear, dear U.S. Congressman Josh Gottheimer - please, please help improve the existing N.Y.C. congestion pricing plan!!!

U.S. Congressman Josh Gottheimer 1/4/25 93 Spring St. suite 408 Newton, NJ 07860 Dear Congressman Josh Gottheimer, Greetings on this glorious day! This is the day the LORD has made - let us rejoice and be glad in it! I am writing to you for your help about congestion pricing in New York City. I believe there are problems with the existing plan, and improvements could be made to alleviate existing problems. Under the existing plan, if I understand it correctly, a vehicle traveling into the city, let’s say the Lincoln Tunnel, and travels to 36trh Street and parks for the day and then leaves and goes back to New Jersey will be charged the same as a vehicle that travels into the city, let’s say at the George Washington Bridge, and travels throughout the city for 7 - 8 hours and then returns to New Jersey. The first vehicle will be on the streets of the city for less time and will occupy a smaller area than the second vehicle, and yet be charged the same. To have a truly more perfect congestion pricing plan in place, the first vehicle in the example should be charged less than the second vehicle. Also, why limit the congestion plan to 60th Street? I would agree that charging one $9.00 fee would be too much for the first vehicle in the example, and I disagree that $9.00 would be an appropriate fee for the second vehicle if the purpose of the plan would be to limit congestion. Why not extend the area covered by the congestion plan to above 180th Street (maybe 196th Street) and divide up the area every 14 Streets, and lower the fee charged to $4.50 for every time a vehicle crosses into another area. There needs to be improvement in the existing congestion pricing plan to make it a more perfect congestion pricing plan. I believe that limiting the area covered by the existing plan only to 60th Street to be a mistake, and that only charging one simple fee, whether it’s $.50, or $9.00 (although I believe that $9.00 would be too much for some situations), would also be a mistake if the purpose of the plan is to limit congestion. Also, another option to limit congestion on New York City streets would be to raise the tolls for crossing the George Washington Bridge, the Lincoln Tunnel, and the Holland Tunnel (more than the current price increases - how much more, I don’t know). Thank you very much for all your help! Hope that you and the loved ones have a joyous and peaceful day. May the good LORD, the maker of the heavens and the earth, bless you, your family, and friends with love, joy, peace, and patience!
