As we contemplate the Advent of the Christ Child, pro-lifers cannot avoid thinking of the endangered child in the womb, whose human nature was exactly like that the Savior took on in order to redeem the world. Perhaps the greatest threat against the prenatal child in this country, following the fall of Roe, is chemical abortion. By marketing abortive poisons, the death industry is planning to circumvent any protective laws that pro-life states may pass. We at Life Legal are countering this insidious strategy – and we need your help to defeat it! We have long been involved in the fight against chemical abortion – and this past year won an important victory against the abortion syndicate on this front, as detailed in this year’s annual report. In brief, we took on Danco Laboratories, sole U.S. distributor of the most popular abortifacient drug available, mifepristone – which it markets under the trade name Mifeprex. Our lawsuit took advantage of the essential dishonesty at the heart of the abortion industry. The truth is that abortionists, though legally excused for slaughtering infants in most states, are almost always doing something wrong for which they can be prosecuted or sued. Danco is no exception. We brought a whistleblower lawsuit under the False Claims Act. The False Claims Act allows private parties to file lawsuits against individuals and companies that commit fraud against the government. Danco had mislabeled the drug, which it imports from China, and thus avoided U.S. tariffs. Under pressure, it agreed to a settlement with the federal government of $765,000. This was a damaging loss for Danco and for chemical abortion profiteers in general. But the struggle against chemical abortion goes on – and 2024 will be a pivotal year in its development. You see, the U.S. Supreme Court is hearing a vital case pertaining to the distribution of mifepristone! In December 2021, under pro-abortion President Joe Biden, the FDA did away with a long-standing requirement that abortifacients be dispensed in person. Chemical child murder by mail was thus made possible – and even easy. Pro-lifers sued, and a U.S. District Court judge suspended the policy and stopped mail order abortions. Unfortunately, the Supreme Court quickly intervened to temporarily restore the Biden policy. This means abortion drugs are again widely available by mail, even in states where abortion is otherwise illegal. In August of this year, judges on the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled against the FDA’s policy of allowing distribution by mail, but the Supreme Court’s temporary ruling restoring the policy remains until the Court grants a full review of the case. The good news is that the Supreme Court has finally agreed to review the case. Oral arguments may occur as soon as Spring 2024. We at Life Legal have good reason to believe that our amicus briefs have exerted a powerful influence on previous court rulings – especially in the case of Dobbs v. JWHO, which overturned Roe v. Wade. And we want to have our say on this case, too. Danco Laboratories, sole distributor of mifepristone in the U.S., has reason to fear us. Won’t you please help us continue the fight against chemical abortion? At last count, 54 percent of U.S. abortions were accomplished through chemical means. By continuing restrictions on the distribution of abortifacients through the mail, pro-lifers can save thousands of babies from unjust termination, year after year, far into the future. We estimate that we need to raise $37,500 by January 21st in order to be ready for this challenge, while attending to our many other pro-life obligations. Because we are up against filthy rich operatives such as Danco Laboratories and Planned Parenthood – and also the Biden administration, which is entirely on the side of the abortionists – we are especially seeking gifts of up to $1,000 from pro-life stalwarts who can afford to consider such sacrificial generosity.
