The extremists beheaded Miriam’s husband, then tried to force Miriam and her daughter to convert to Islam. They refused, standing firm in their faith in Christ. Miriam and the rest of her family managed to escape, but the terrorists stole their livestock and burned their home. Even amid the awful attack, Miriam was strengthened and comforted as the Holy Spirit reminded her of the words of Isaiah 54:17 — “No weapon that is fashioned against you shall succeed.” When Christians are confronted by Islamic extremists in Kenya, Nigeria, Burkina Faso and elsewhere, God’s Word provides strength and comfort. Blessing Andrawus was heartbroken when she learned that her father had been shot to death by militant Fulani Muslims while conducting an evangelistic outreach in a neighboring Nigerian village.
