Paul cries desperately to find a solution, an escape, a power to change How broken and wretched we really in contrast to God’s glory and life saving actions to bring His son to die for our sins and for our salvation. This battle is still going on Self pleasure -> self preservation -> self promotion -> self purpose: please ourselves at all cost, protect myself, elevate myself, and selfish desire to be in control. We died to this when we came to the cross. We transfer our sin for God’s righteousness. My surrender to Christ must be a repentance and acknowledgement of his cleansing I am no longer a slave, but am subject to sin’s deceipt. But I am not happy staying in my sin as I now have a new nature contrary to my old sinful nature The Holy Spirit is working in the hearts of believers to deal with this struggle between righteousness and sin, convicting us but also pouring our His grace. Christ alone is the power source that provides victory and sets me free from the bondage of sin through the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit purifies us (John 16:8, 1 Corinthians 6:11), reveals truth (2 Peter 1:21, John 16:13-14, Romans 8:4-16), guides us (Galatians 5:18, John 16:13), and provides for us (1 John 3:24, John 14:17, Acts 10:38) We are washed clean in the name of Lord Jesus Galations 5:23-24 our focus is no longer on our self indulgence but outward on God’s glory and righteousness. His truth of God’s promises and evidences of his presence as he enlightens is in our experiences here on earth The Holy Spirit makes known the supernatural presence of God John 14:6 Romans 8:6 Acts 1:8 we receive power Romans 8:11 he gives us light Our flesh yields death. Following the spirit brings life and a result that looks like Christ Turn to Christ when we have no idea where to turn, surrender my will to His will so he can lead me in the path of righteousness. God is leading us to people and how we respond can make all the difference between life and death for someone. Use every opportunity to share how God has transformed me and opened my heart to his love and grace He manifests his joy and peace and brings us hope of a future inheritance. Our walk - surrender Ephesians 1:17-19 His grace is sufficient for us God fills us with peace and hope and we are set free Romans‬ ‭7:14 - 8:11‬ ‭KJV‬‬ - “For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin. For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I. If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good. Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not. For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do. Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me. For I delight in the law of God after the inward man: But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death? I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin. There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.” ‭‭
