This image is from a card I bought to celebrate my friend’s adoption of her precious baby girl, Anna. Little Anna is winning after her biological mother nearly decided to abort her at 34 weeks. I’ll be honest with you though. Sometimes it doesn’t feel like the babies are ahead. Planned Parenthood killed 321,384 tiny humans in 2017—for which the nation’s largest abortion provider will be rewarded with over $500,000,000 in taxpayer funding this year alone. Oprah’s "O" magazine, with 10 million viewers, just promoted a campaign to celebrate abortion in its "inspiration" section. And lawmakers in California want every public university in the state to provide chemical abortions to exterminate the smallest and most vulnerable among us. So that’s the bad news. Thankfully, on other fronts, the tiny humans are having their moment. Judge Kavanaugh’s Supreme Court hearings are just around the corner and the abortion cartel is beside itself. Pro-aborts are terrified that Kavanaugh will follow in the footsteps of his mentor, the late Chief Justice William Rehnquist, who wrote pro-life dissenting opinions in numerous abortion cases beginning with Roe v. Wade. Rehnquist wrote the majority opinion in Rust v. Sullivan, upholding regulations that prohibit Title X grantees from counseling or referring women for abortion. Rust is particularly relevant now that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has issued new Title X rules that could cut $30 million in PP funding annually. The total number of babies killed by abortion continues to fall—as does the percentage of women who have abortions. In 1985, nearly 30% of pregnancies in the U.S. ended in abortion. That number dropped to below 13% by 2014, the latest year for which such data is available. So even though some women insist on shouting their abortions, many more are choosing life for their tiny humans. Life Legal has been on the forefront of the fight for life since 1989. We rely completely on your generosity to represent clients like Sally Passmore, Paula Thyfault, Fr. David Nix, defendants in the David Daleiden/CMP cases, and so many others who have been bullied and threatened, and who have lost their reputations, their livelihoods, and even their freedom to help create a world where the tiny humans are safe. Please consider making a gift today to stand with Life Legal and the tiny humans! Thank you—and may God bless you! "Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus." —1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 TODAY! August 23: Red Rose Rescue hearing for Fr. David Nix, Fr. Fidelis Moscinski, Will Goodman, and “Baby Jane Roe.” The rescuers were arrested after they spoke with several couples seeking abortion in the waiting room of a Washington, D.C. abortion mill run by notorious late-term abortionist Stephen Brigham. Please pray that Judge Kavanaugh will be confirmed to the U.S. Supreme Court in a timely manner! September 10: People v. Sandra Merritt (CA)—Sandra is facing 14 counts of felony eavesdropping and 1 count of felony conspiracy after she and David Daleiden to obtained video footage of Planned Parenthood directors negotiating the sale of fetal body parts for profit. December 7: Two Rivers School v. Darnell et al. (DC)—Pro-life advocates protested the building of a Planned Parenthood megacenter adjacent to a middle school in Washington, D.C. The school district sued. Life Legal is representing the lead defendant in the case. Passmore v. 21st Century Oncology (FL)—Sally Passmore and Paula Thybault were fired for their pro-life views. The case is currently in discovery. Diss v. Portland Public Schools (OR)—First Amendment case where a public school teacher was fired for refusing to facilitate a Planned Parenthood sex ed program in his classroom. The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled against Mr. Diss on June 21. NIFLA v. Becerra (CA)—On March 20, the Supreme Court heard oral arguments in a case involving a challenge to a California law that 1) forces medically-licensed pregnancy resource centers to tell their clients how to obtain a state-funded abortion, and 2) forces non-medical centers to post large signs saying that they are not medical centers. Life Legal filed an amicus brief with the Supreme Court on behalf of Priests for Life and the Justice Foundation addressing the draconian disclosure mandate for non-medical pregnancy centers. VICTORY! The Court held that the law likely violates the First Amendment and sent the case back to the Ninth Circuit for further review. McKitty v. Hayani: Life Legal is assisting in the Canadian case of 27-year-old Taquisha McKitty, who was declared brain dead in September, but has since been exhibiting movements and responses incompatible with brain failure. The judge ruled that the hospital could remove Taquisha from life support despite her and her family’s religious belief that life is not determined solely on the basis of neurological criteria. Taquisha’s family is appealing the decision. Planned Parenthood v. MMB Properties, Inc. (FL)—Case involving a medical office complex that refused to allow Planned Parenthood to perform abortions on its premises. The case is now in discovery and proceeding to trial. Planned Parenthood v. CMP/David Daleiden—Lawsuit filed by Planned Parenthood against David Daleiden and the Center for Medical Progress seeking millions of dollars in damages. The case is currently before the Ninth Circuit. PLEASE DONATE TODAY! Share Tweet Forward Copyright © 2018 Life Legal Defense Foundation, All rights reserved.
