As you may have heard, a new scientific study published in the Journal of Neurotrauma has found increasing evidence that recovery of independence is possible for many individuals with traumatic brain injuries. Yet, modern hospitals don’t wait; they don’t allow time for the patients to recover. Families are pressured to make the horrible decision to withdraw life-sustaining treatment during the very time in which their loved one may recover. And worse yet, many healthcare facilities don’t give families an option…. Can you imagine? And added on top of all of this emotional suffering and psychological pain, there are those like the TV Series Family Guy who think it is ok, in fact that it is entertaining, to mock and denigrate individuals with brain injuries and their families. The Terri Schiavo Life & Hope Network is actively petitioning Fox Network, Disney, and Hulu to remove Episode 14 of Season 8 of Family Guy from their streaming services. This episode that belittles my sister, Terri Schiavo, and dehumanizes all disabled individuals especially those who have experienced brain injury. Donate now to stop Family Guy's mockery! This aspersion promotes insensitivity towards the pain of others at a time when we should be promoting respect, understanding and compassion. Our petition is going extremely well. We have exceeded our initial goal of 5,000 signatures and are now working toward our next goal of 10,000 signatures! This is a great sign that good people across America are fed up with the disrespect, insensitivity and lack of civility of Family Guy and its creator, Seth MacFarlane. We are raising the stakes to give more good people like yourself the chance to make their voice heard for those who have no voice. That is why we have doubled our goal! But we can’t do it without you!Donate.jpegPlease help with your generous donation. It is amazing what a small contribution can do: $10 will show this petition to 1,000 potential supporters $25 will show petition to 2,500 potential supporters $50 will show petition to 5,000 potential supporters And $100 will show this petition to 10,000 potential supporters With your support, let’s show Disney, Fox and Hulu that we will not stand by quietly while they mock, denigrate and demean vulnerable human beings who are in such great need of compassion and time to recover. Thank you for standing up and being the voice for those who have no voice of their own!
