When we share the word of the more than 2,700 patients and families we’ve served through our Crisis Lifeline over the years, we sometimes find that such a large number can gloss over the very real circumstances and the unique fight each one of those patients and families faced in their fight for life. On average, our Crisis Lifeline receives upwards of 20 cases each month. To better convey some of the stories of life and hope from those we serve, we’re starting today to share just a few stories of patients and families fighting both across the United States and internationally. We’ll be sharing these stories every other week, and while many details will be necessarily redacted out of respect for privacy, the essential facts of the situations and circumstances which so many face will be shared as a way to build awareness and a life-affirming solidarity. We’re grateful for your continuing commitment to the Terri Schiavo Life & Hope Network, and hope these biweekly updates will be both educational and inspiring. As always, please consider a gift in support of our mission of service or consider becoming a monthly or annual member donor. 3A8282A1-F6B4-4C7C-AABB-9B7F45FA41F6.png Bobby Schindler President 8FBAD275-DD06-4137-BCF2-C2B716D93432.png Connecticut A young woman is seeking a supportive attorney to assist in a guardianship dispute as a means to offer an ailing relative life-affirming treatment and care options. Quebec A middle-aged son is seeking a means to restore food and water (by means of a feeding tube) to his mother, who is being denied this basic care but who is not otherwise facing immediate “end of life” issues. Iowa A physician is seeking assistance in effectively communicating with a family of a patient which is obstinately seeking to intentionally hasten the death of his patient. Oregon A mother is seeking medical and legal assistance in recovering guardianship for her cognitively disabled son, whose care facility has claimed the power to make all care and treatment decisions. Nevada A young man recovering from alcohol dependency, and who requires food and water by feeding tube on a temporary basis, is facing denial of care by an unsupportive facility.
